Road Trip 2017 - Day 6

Day 6 - Fri 14th July

An easy driving day today - we stuck to the back roads and found a couple of really cute little towns along the way - our destination this morning Gettysburg Pennsylvania.

We went straight to the big new visitors center but were quite dissapointed.  Everything at the visitors center cost money - in order to find out anything about the area we would need to pay over $50.  I don't think so.  So we had a quick look at the one or two free displays - some muskats and a some musical instruments then headed into town for lunch.

We wandered around the center of town for a while then decided on the Lincoln diner for lunch.

whats a diner without a milkshake

and of course cherry pie!
After lunch we headed for the battlefields.

I think there was a monument for just about every regiment that took place in the battle!

Josh really liked these fences.

lots of canons around

plenty of plaques describing what happened during the battle

And a really beautiful drive!

After spending the afternoon driving around Gettysburg we were ready to find a place for the night - but when even the Sleep Inn in charging $180/night we decided to move on and headed east through New Oxford and onto York where we found a Hampton Inn - time for a swim then dinner at the Ruby Tuesdays.
