A bit of a late start today after our late night, then we got back into the car and started heading for home.
I was trying to take some back roads, but we got a bit lost. We pulled out the GPS and programmed it, and it ended up taking us a totally different way than I had expected so we ended up on the 81 heading north to Wilkes Barre and Scranton. At Scranton we stopped at a Applebees for a lunch break then headed east on the 84 then north east on the 209 towards the Hudson river at Kingston . Kate had a turn driving this afternoon on the back roads into Kingston.
At Kingston New York we found a room at the Quality Inn, had a swim then headed out to the local Mexican restaurant "Santa Fe" for dinner.
Day 11 - Wed 19th July
After breakfast in the hotel we headed north along the Hudson river. It was a beautiful day and a nice drive.
| Crossing the river at Saugerties |
At Saugerties we noticed a bunch of decorated rocking horses, At Malden a zebra or two but it wasn't until we reached Catskill that we realised that all the towns in the region were doing it.
They were decorating their towns with different statues. In Catskill it was Cats.
Just after Catskill we cross the Rip Van Wrinkle Bridge.
Then headed up to Hudson.
After an afternoon stop at a local distillery for some peach brandy, and lunch at a Friendly's along 90 we headed for home.
