Day 9 - July 6 Loftus - St Ives
Today we head across the city to see the Ryerson Clan. The original plan was to catch the train up to St Ives, but of course this just happens to be the one weekend where there are track works on the Illawarra line so there are buses running instead....After much searching we finally found a reasonable compromise - we can catch the south coast bus from Loftus, stopping in Sutherland and then straight through to Central - much better than doing an all stops bus, or having to change buses multiple times.
But first we had to play trains - Been in Australia for 4 days now and still we haven't played trains, so Grandpa took us out to the shed and showed us the latest railway that he built. Very Impressive work.
At about 10:30 it was time to get going. We had to spend some time at Loftus getting new Opal cards and topping up the existing ones, then it was just waiting for the bus. It was only about 5 - 10 mins late, but it was almost full when we got on board and I was worried we would be standing all the way into Central, but thankfully everyone got off in Sutherland and we were able to get seats before they all filled back up again. The trip to Central was pretty easy going, a nice drive down by Botany Bay, but a bit slow going though Surry Hills.
Once we made it to Central we just had to find the North Shore trains which was easy enough, and it was just a 3 min wait till we could get on board. good view of the Opera house as we crossed the Harbour Bridge.
Tried Calling David when we got to Chatswood but he didn't answer which was a bit worrying, but thankfully he was just out of batteries and managed to get the message to pick us up at Pymble station.
Had a nice relaxing afternoon with Margot and David. Margot had to go up the street for some last minute party food so the Kids and I tagged along and we all went to the Sushi train for a late lunch which was so yummy!
Met the latest addition to Margots Menagerie - a cute black bunny!
Day 10 - July 7 St Ives - Loftus
Today was party day at the Ryerson. We spent the morning preparing - Lexie decorated the Black Forest Cake for Sophia's Birthday while Josh Decorated the Pavlova.
Sue arrived first at about midday - it was great to catch up with her. She and Lexie had some good talks about animals. Tim, Anna, Sophia and Jack arrived soon after and after some catching up the feasting started. Entree of Smoked Salmon, Oysters, Prawns, Sausage rolls and Party Pies, followed by main of Lamb with Veges, and of course three different desserts!
We had a great time catching up with everyone, then about 4pm we all departed. Margot drove us back to Pymble station and we caught a train back to Central, then changed for a short ride to Sydenham where Dad picked us up and took us back to Mel's place.
Dinner with the Stopic's where we got to catch up with Eddie and Atti before heading home to Loftus.
