Australia 2024 - Day 4 & 5

Day 4 - July 1 - Inflight to Loftus

Slept for the majority of the flight and when I wasn't sleeping I read my book - had real issues with my rear end getting sore when I say in one position for a long time, so had to keep shifting positions - was not at all comfortable.

Breakfast was served 1.5 hours out of Sydney and we arrived on the ground in Sydney on time....but once again there was no gate for us so we sat on the tarmac for 1/2 hour.

Once we were finally on the ground had to get through immigration - probably another 1/2 hour or so, then grab our bags before headed out to find Dad/Grandpa.  He had his bright red hat on so was easy to find him waiting right outside the gate.

Drove straight to Mel's house where we got to catch up with Mel,  Nick and Ernie.  Walked up to the shops for sausage rolls and party pies for lunch before heading to Grandpa's place where we spent the rest of the afternoon just relaxing and catching up.

  Day 5 - Loftus - Bulli - Loftus

Another easy morning, catching up on the washing, then after lunch we went for a drive.  We drove down through the Royal National Park - Audley weir was open again after all the rain they had had lately so drove down across the weir and through the national park - were planning on coming out at Waterfall, but that road was still closed so went all the way to Otford,

Then up to Helensburgh so I could visit Mum's grave.

After a quick visit, we then drove just down the road to Kelly's falls.  How many times have I been to Helensburgh and I never knew these existed.  According to Dad they don't usually have a lot of water, but with all the rain lately they were really running, and they were really impressive.  I huge drop off.  We walked to the top of the falls and rock hopped across them, then continued a little way along to trail to try for a better view, but unfortunately the paths were really muddy.

We then drove on to Bald Hill to see if there were any hang gliders out.  Just the one today - was certainly a bit chilly in the wind!

Drove right down the coast, over the Sea Cliff bridge and down to Bulli, to visit the church Andy and I got married at - It was much smaller than I remember....

A quick stop at the rock pool at Bulli beach (but too cold for a swim) before heading home up the freeway.

Dinner at the Mexican restaurant at Gymea before home to bed.
