We tried for an early morning this morning as we had tickets for the Empire State Building.
We walked down to 34th Street and went inside fearing the worst - long lines that we'd have to stand in for ages.
Wow were we in for a treat. There was - quite literally - no one else in line. Yes NO ONE. There was not a single person in line in front of us. (Is that what you call a miracle on 34th street).

We went straight through all the security check points and up the elevators for a great view. We had a beautiful morning for it. Blue sky sunny, just a little haze in some directions but otherwise beautiful.

We then jumped on the next elevator to head to the open air viewing platform. Slightly chilly and windy.
We didn't stay too long - it was too cold to be out there for long so we headed down to find some lunch to warm us up.
Roaming the streets of midtown we found this weird interactive exhibition on which we had to have a play.
After lunch we headed back north towards the Chrysler building.
I love those gargoyles up there.
We then headed over to the UN.
Stopped for lunch at a little pizza joint then split up for a while. Chris and Dale headed back to the hotel for a break whilst Kate and I headed for the Pig and Whistle for a couple of beers.
Had an early dinner than headed back down to midtown.
Out Empire State tickets allow for two visits - one in the morning and then another after 9pm. We definitely wanted to see this view with all the pretty lights.
And we were in for a real treat. Not only did we get lights, but we got snow as well.
Whilst it was cold out on the balcony - it actually wasn't as bad as we were expecting.
It was a fabulous experience. Ended up back at the bar for a drink before bed.
