New York 2018 - Day 1 Times Square

On Friday the 9th March 2018 I left the kids with Dad (I was planning on dropping them at school, but they called it a snow day so instead they got to stay home with Dad) and headed for New York.  I drove to Rt 128 Amtrak station and parked the car then jumped on the North East Regional train.  One sock knitted later I arrived at Penn Station to be met by Kate, Christine and Dale on the second leg of their tour of America.

Kate had texted me that they were waiting out of Eight Street, so of course I managed to come out on Seventh Street and had to walk right around the block to find them.  We then headed uptown towards our hotel.  We were all pretty hungry - being after 1pm and none of us has had lunch - so we stopped in at the Shake Shack for a quick lunch whilst waiting for our hotel to be ready.

At 3pm we booked into our hotel - Hotel Edison.  A beautifully restored hotel with a lighting theme.  The lobby was beautiful with great murals all around.

We got a small room on the 9th floor - just enough room for the 4 of us.

After relaxing and settling in we headed down the road to Times Square - a whole 1/2 block away.  We took a walk around the local area before having a easy dinner across the road at Buffalo Wild Wings and ended the night with a trip to Times Square to see it all lit up in the dark.

We took a browse around the M&M store.
