Today we had planned to go on a river and lake cruise, but unfortunately we found out that the 10am cruise we wanted to go on wasn't running today so we had to wait till 1 pm - but at least that gave the day time to clear up and we actually had blue sky for our cruise. We walked down to the wriggle tower where the Wendella cruise line leaves from.
The boat was not quite as I had expected. Yes there was a climate controlled cabin - but if you sat down there you couldn't actually see any of the buildings the tour guide was talking about so once we got started we headed outside and up to the top deck.
The cruise took us down the main arm of the river past the Mercandile Mart.
Down the south arm of the river to the Sears tower.
Then back up the river
and to the lock out to the lake.
Once through the lock we headed up the north shore.
past the lighthouse
and Navy Pier
Then back down to the south shore before heading back in through the lock.
Although we took a couple of breaks from the cold going inside and warming up - by the end of the tour we were freezing, hungry and tired - especially Josh.
so we headed off to find lunch. But got side tracked by some cool art - made up of hundereds of mosaic tiles each with their own picture.
and the Tribune tower with pieces off all the main building in the world embedded into it. Including a couple of tiles from the opera house.
The parthenon.
the world trade center.
and Notre Dame.
