We had a plan to visit Timbertown today but found that it's not open on Wednesdays outside the school holidays. Hrumph.
So after a leisurely breakfast on our veranda
We headed out to the Koala Hospital.
Port Maquarie has an art installation all around town of Koalas painted in different styles. We found quite a few of them at the Koala Hospital.
Next we tried to go out to the local lighthouse - but the road was all closed off. So we ended up down at the beach instead.
Josh had a great time wading and really wanted to go in but he didn't have his suit with him.
After a quick stop at another beach for Morning tea.
We tried to find a chippie to get fish and chips for lunch but couldn't find anything so we stopped at a grocery store to stock up on lunch stuff t and headed back to the apartment.
Josh really wanted to go for a swim so he and I got into a swimmers and headed down to the town beach.
It seemed cold to start with but then I warmed up and it was actually really nice. Unfortunately the only other thing that we wanted to do was a dolphin spotting cruise and the only one we could get onto was the 2pm one so we had to cut our swim short and get back in time for that.
Unfortunately the cruise was a bit of a dud too. No dolphins. Still it was nice to be out on the water.
Day 29 - Thur 25th July 2019 - Port Maquarie - Loftus
A straight shot down the freeway hoe today.
We stopped at Bulladelah for morning tea. Tried to stop at Newcastle for Lunch, had an enjoyable drive through the center of Newcastle - I'm not sure I've ever been there before. We stopped at Tramway reserve for a toilet break then started looking for a chippie for lunch again but no luck. We then got a bit lost trying to get back on the freeway and ended up in Swansea where we stopped by Lake Maquarie for sandwiches bought at the service station.
I took over the driving for a while and got us back to Sydney where we stopped for a Maccas icecream at North Ryde. Slow drive down through Sydney so didn't get home till after 4pm. so we headed to Gymea to the Mexican restaurant for dinner. Oh I miss this!
