Today was spent exploring the western side of Prince Edward Island.
We started by heading back to Summerside then picking up the scenic trail along the south west coast to Cape Egmont. We stopped in at the house made of bottles but decided against going in. A little further along the road we came across this beautiful big church - it was just there in the middle of nowhere...
The drive wasn't actually as scenic as I was hoping so after an hour or so of driving we decided to head straight for O'Leary and the potato museum.
The museum was quite interesting but by the time we finished it was lunch time. Luckily there was a park right across the road so we had our picnic lunch there.
They had some really fun exercise equipment in the park to play on.
We decided to head across to the north shore and drive up that coast - the scenery was a bit better, but still not as great as the center of the island around green gables country.
We stopped at the very northern tip of the island North Cape. There was a beautiful red sand beach/ rock ledge that we had fun exploring.
There was also a sand bar heading out of a little island. Josh and Andy decided to brave it and head out.
Lexie and I didn't have the right shoes on so had to stay behind. Lexie spent the time building a little rock kiln.
The boys heading back.
We had afternoon tea at Tignish - a drumstick from the local Co-op eaten in the war memorial park and then headed back towards Cavendish. Our last stop for the day was at Moth Lane Brewery, not very easy to find, but great once you're there - its right down by the water and serves some seriously good beer. Saw this beauty of a place as we were headed home - seems to be a haunted mansion amusement park - I just love the house.
Dinner was at a local Pizza Delight where we got to try a seafood pizza, and then souvenir shopping at Cow's ice creamery.
