Day 11 - Tue 22 April

Reykjavik - Sandgerdi

Well I had no idea how to check out this morning.  There was no one around during check in so I just used the details that had been sent to me in an email two days earlier (and then retracted in a later email) and had gotten in no problems but now there was still no one around for check out - so I just left the key where I found it and left.

Another drive through the center of Reykjavik for the last time before heading out.  Going South this time towards Hafnafjordur.  I had planned to stop in the elves garden but we couldn't find anywhere to park so skipped that one and headed down the 42 towards the south shore of the Reykjanes Peninsular.

We drove down around the shores of lake Kleifarvatn

To Selton - another hot springs area.   These were great, good colours, lots of bubbling mud etc.

Then along to Greanavatn with its beautiful colouring.

And around to the Blue Lagoon.

We had so much fun - but it was soooo windy out there - there was a full on storm raging in the middle of the lagoon, the waves were crashing all over the place.

We exfoiliated our faces with the silica mud, and bought a drink each to laze around with ($33 for 4 drink - yeah that's not excessive).

Once we finished at the lagoon we continued around the Reykajanes peninsular.  Next stop the bridge between two continents.  This is one area where the North American and European techtonic plates meet and are separating.

And finally made it to our cottages for the night at Sandgerdi.  Great little places with own private hot tub.

Dinner at the one and only local restaurant.  Lexie got her own place of mussels this time.

Then time to try out the hot tub.
